Test Icinga2 agent from terminal

  • Hi! I have been using icinga2 with icinga2 agent setup for some time already. I was always wondering if I can run test of remote agent command in terminal. The same way I used to checked nrpe like this:

    /usr/lib64/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H nrpehostIP -c check_elasticsearch

I tried to google it but haven't found anything useful. So question is, is it posible in some way to test agent connection in terminal?

  • No, you cannot. The client is tied via TLS and cluster protocol to a parent instance. You'll need to define a dummy service (one without notifications for example) on the parent host, and trigger it.
