Disable omd at boottime

  • OMD - Open Monitoring Distribution Version 1.4.0p8.cre

I originally installed omd-1.30 and then later upgraded check_mk to version 1.4.0p8.cre.

How it is possible to stop omd from starting at boottime?

Init-Script does not work for new version.

    Code
    1. /etc/init.d/omd-1.30 start/stop

    Next guess was /etc/default/omd.

    Code
    1. AUTOSTART=0

    This has no effect.

So, how I can prevent omd/check_mk from start at boottime?

  • chkconfig --list omd shows at which run levels the init script will be run. chkconfig omd off should disable running the script automatically.

As I mentioned, there is a init script at /etc/init.d/omd-1.30which doesn't work for new check_mk version. I know, i can disable autostart at each site in config menue, but this is not a good solution. I need to disable autostart complete because of using drbd.

chkconfig --list omd is not available on my Debian 8 system and it would not solve obove described problem.

According to this posting I'd try update-rc.d or something equivalent.

As I mentioned, there is a init script at /etc/init.d/omd-1.30which doesn't work for new check_mk version.

You probably have /etc/init.d/omd, too, or something similar pointing to the actual location of the omd binary.

  • There is also /etc/init.d/check-mk-raw-1.4.0p5, but it's the same as /etc/init.d/omd-1.30.

    Content of file /etc/init.d/check-mk-raw-1.4.0p5:

I used update-rc.d check-mk-raw-1.4.0p5 disableto disable service start addiotional to the AUTOSTART entry in /etc/default/omd.

    /etc/init.d/check-mk-raw-1.4.0p5 start results in:

    OMD autostart disabled, skipping ...

It looks fine for me, but after a server reboot all sites are running.

Other services disabled with update-rc.d are disabled after a reboot.

  • Which OS is your cmk installation running on?

OK, Debian 8... so you might want to disable the systemd service:

    # systemctl disable omd
