Downtime or dependency on soft state

This forum was archived to /woltlab and is now in read-only mode.
  • Hi !

I noticed than if we start a downtime on a Host or Service in soft state ( UP, Down / critical, warning ), the notification is still sent.
    It's the same with dependencies.

This probleme makes my dependencies useless ! ;(

It is possible to change this with some options or something ?

Sorry for my english - Thanks from france

  • AFAIK notifications are sent when the object enters a HARD state. Please show object definitions and log entries describing the problem.

Yes sorry, I don't explain very well maybe.

The notification is still sent when it enter in HARD state despite the downtime or dependency start before the HARD state begin.

The notification is not sent if the change of state (soft) start after the downtime or dependency.
But if the SOFT state start it's impossible to stop the mailing with a downtime or dependency.

It makes my dependencies useless because often all my child objects already start to change they state when my parent object active the dependency.

So, is that a bug ? Optional ?

  • Do you happen to have an example config for reproducing the problem?

Logs on sending the notifications will help as well (best is to turn on debuglog to extract everything from the time frame).

  • I made a try today on the downtime during SOFT on one service, it doesn't notify me.
I must try on Host too.

For dependency it's difficult to try on my config now.

When I noticed this problem I was maybe in the previous version of icinga, I juste update monday.

  • Ok, This morning it appen again.
I received one mail on my dependency start, and after my child host mail me too. I will try to search in the logs to find someting.

    Here my dependency object :
