If I manage the environment with vCenter and everything is based on ESXi 6.5, should I download and install the vSphere SDK for Perl 5.5 Update 2 (https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?downloadGroup=SDKPERL552&productId=353)?

Documentation of module describes:

Do not use SDK 6.x because it contains some bugs an incompatibilities. Use SDK 5.x. This works well.

Do you want me to prefer a version of the SDK because it runs bug-free with all environments?
I tried to install both (5.5 U2 and 6. x), the first one gets stuck with the Perl modules in CPAN and the second one doesn’t get any information from the ESXi.

Thanks,
Leon

AFAIK @lazyfrosch did something with VMWare lately.

SDK 6.5 works fine in my tests, rolled it out at a customer site lately

I can also confirm that SDK 6.5 works fine.
