Service - Host dependency

#1

Hello,

how can I do a service - (but different) Host dependency in Check_MK?
For example I do some access point checks on the wireless lan controller. Those APs are connected to a switch. So if the switch is down, i don’t want to get notifications from the wlc.
Same with physical servers. If the server is down, i don’t want to get the notification from the fibre-channel switch, that the link is broken.
How did you implement this?

Thanks!
Matthias

Hello,

one way to achieve this would a BI aggregation. You can manage all the dependencies and the different stages can inherit the state from the others - depending on your logic. Then you could create a rule “check state of BI aggregation” for the top level in the aggregation and create a service on any host (or even a dummy host). This service can than be notified.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
Dani
