Dist-upgrading check_mk-server

(Tobias Grossmann) #1

hello people, is there a guide to updating my jessie to stretch? Currently 1.5.0p21.cre is installed. if I change my sources.list to stretch, then apt update && apt upgrade and then do apt dist-upgrade, then it probably will not work like that, right?

Hi Tobias,

you have to download the new version.
Install the new version with gdebi

  1. su - SITENAME
  2. omd stop
  3. omd update <— choose the new version
  4. omd start

now you have the new version of Check_MK

Think about Backup

hi, I meant with dist-upgrade the update of my linux server.

Hall Tobias,

my steps in such a case:

omd stop
omd disable mysite
download https://checkmk.com/support/1.5.0p21/check-mk-raw-1.5.0p21_0.stretch_amd64.deb
take snapshot of the complete server or make other backup
edit sources.list
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
reboot
apt-get install ./check-mk-raw-1.5.0p21_0.stretch_amd64.deb
sometimes: apt --fix-broken install
omd enable mysite
omd start

Good luck,
Wolfgang
