There's an update pending, this might solve some of the known issues. Gonna apply that in the next days which probably involves rebuilding some indexes (and therefore forum maintenance).
Applied Core 3.0.1 and Forum 5.0.1 which introduce a regression with PHP 5.5 - olé.
Fixed that locally, please check back whether the patches fix anything related to the notification issues some users reported.
Update to Core 3.0.2 fixes the local patch for PHP 5.5.
I'm looking for possibilities to quick post a question without having to navigate into a forum itself. I haven't found any suitable plugin for now, so I've made a suggestion in Woltlab's community platform: https://community.woltlab.com/…dashboard-forum-overview/
I got a nice reply from a community member: https://community.woltlab.com/…ostID=1606139#post1606139
I've therefore installed the plugin (testing only, if it causes problems, I'll remove it): https://pluginstore.woltlab.co…-forum-add-thread-button/
You'll now have a new button on the forum listing called "+ Create Thread".
... which allows you to select the category/sub forum ...
... and redirects you to create a new thread.
Updated to 5.0.8, please check back on the remaining (notification) issues.
Users kept asking where to put their questions, and sometimes kept writing on another user's profile wall instead of asking in a forum's category.
This isn't bad, but removes the questions from a broader audience. Unfortunately I've observed several users aggressively posting on walls looking for advice. Telling them that this behavior is impolite and not tolerated did not stop them.
Now that I received more feedback from well-known members here feeling spammed, I've decided to disable the wall on user profiles entirely.
This helps us keeping focus on the main forums, and do what we like the most - helping each other, and learning from each other
Coming from this thread where a user did not notice to navigate into the "Forum" menu: Icinga2 : Hosts in downtime
A while ago I've installed a plugin which allows to add a "Create Thread" button onto the forum list: Changes & upgrade to Woltlab Suite Forum 5.0
Technically speaking it shouldn't be a problem to adopt the style and layout of Woltlab Suite Core and Forum. My general goal is not to modify too much (no custom CSS, only a few templates and a handful of plugins). This saves headaches when an upgrade happens and renames variables - TL;DR: Everything breaks.
I've found a solution in the comments for the plugin: https://pluginstore.woltlab.co…omment22495/response31175
The result is now visible for everyone. I'm hoping it gets more easy to create a new thread
