Geomaps - Hostgroups

  • Is it possible to have Geomaps use hostgroups and not hosts?
We have a number of data centres and offices that have a number of devices we monitor in them, that we have bunched together as hostgroups, a hostgroup for each location.
And would like the map to show us the overall status of these locations rather than individual hosts.

    Thanks in advance

  • yes, this is very much required for my environment, we have upto 50 hosts that needs to be grouped and place it on a Geomap.

Also, kindly suggest, how to use cross backend. I have 4 live backend configured, but only only can be used once in a geomap.

Please suggest if there is a way to use multiple backend id's. like: live_1; live_2; live_3; live_4...

    Awaiting for you response,

    Thanks

  • Me as well.

With Icinga 1.x (included in omd 1.20) via mklivestatus monitoring of hostgroups on maps work.

In Icinga 2.x however I could not get this workling.

    To debug you may use

    ncat -U /var/run/icinga2/cmd/livestatus

    and type in:

    GET hostsbygroup

and press to times enter and wait a few seconds.

If get receive a long list, you know at least, that the problem is not within mklivestatus.

  • nagvis 1.9b11 servicegroup/hostgroup output error after refresh (host and service is good)

when i create it, it's ok; after refreshed, one is contain all hosts stats and others show "problem the object does not exist(servicegroup)" or "problem the object does not exist(hostgroup)"

    ##check_mk 1.2.8 output is ok!
