    It eventually chilled out. Perhaps I just wasn't patient enough post-upgrade; however I'm pretty sure the box grinded to a halt for more than an hour before the rebuild. Is there something I can do in the config to stagger these service checks?

    Can you show me the output for "icinga2 feature list" and - in GDB: p m_Name This should get you the service name. I'd also be interested in seeing the config for that service (icinga2 object list --name 'host-name!service-name')
