  • As an intern I am tasked with migrating a Nagios server from a defective Ubuntu 14.04 VM to a new one, presumably a Debian 9.
I chose icinga since I had no previous knowledge of monitoring, and since Icinga has debian repositories.
    My boss validated the…

    OK, thanks for your answer.
NRPE is already installed on all remote clients, that is what makes a difference between Icinga2 client and NRPE.

Would you recommand a solution where the more security-critical servers would be monitored by Icinga2 Client…

    Hi.
My internship is about migrating a Nagios server on a defective Ubuntu 14.04 virtual machine to a new Debian 9 one, and I chose to use Icinga2 rather than Nagios, mostly because it's packaged for Debian (which implies easier maintenance).
    The client…

After a chown -R www-data:icingaweb2 /usr/share/icingaweb2/ folder as Kevin Honka suggested, and a chown -R -h www-data:icingaweb2 /etc/icingaweb2/enabledModules/ since the first one wasn't enough to prevent the error, it finally works!
    Thanks all!

    Thanks.
Though, after a chown -R (which gives me the following rights) for /usr/share/icingaweb2/modules/doc :
    (Code, 7 lines)

    and the equivalent for /usr/share/icingaweb2/modules/monitoring
    and obviously

    (Code, 2 lines)

    I still get
    (Code, 4 lines)

    OK thanks.
BTW, I finished the setup and got the message :

    (Code, 26 lines)

    I went to /etc/icingaweb2/enabledModules

and found 777 permissions to symlinks to

     /usr/share/icingaweb2/modules/doc
    and /usr/share/icingaweb2/modules/monitoring

    Hi.

I'm installing and configuring Icinga2 and (finally!) reached the end of the Web Setup.
It asks me to choose a command transport type.
In the IcingaWeb2 documentation they advise to use the API.
But they don't explain the pros and cons of each…
  • OK it works...
    I just had to do

    createuser icingaweb2

    createdb -O icingaweb2 icingaweb2
  • By the way, is that the reason for the absence of any /etc/apache2/conf.d/icingaweb2.conf file?

Actually, there is no /etc/apache2/conf.d/ at all, only /etc/apache2/apache2.conf

I checked the installation guide, they never talk about creating it…
  • Hi.
As an intern, I'm given the task to migrate a server from Ubuntu/Nagios to Debian/Icinga2
I've done the installation and configuration from the documentation, and chose to use PostgreSQL rather than MariaDB since it has better reputation (and since…
